About Us

A Brief Introduction

Our rabbitry is a small one, set up with a single focus: the breeding of quality, healthy netherland dwarves, Run by myself (Sam).  I have always had a passion for genetics, having completed a Bachelor degree in genetics at ANU and soon to begin my Masters degree in genetic counselling (GP for genetic issues in humans). I have bred multiple animals throughout my life, such as various species of fish and even some amphibians. A few years ago I managed to move into an apartment with a little bit of space, and decided after much deliberation to get a rabbit. Here I obtained my first pair of pet rabbits, Lyra, a cashmere lop, and Tiberius a netherland dwarf. I fell in love with them instantly, their own potent individual personalities shining through endeared them to us. Lyra was a giant clumsy sook, and Tiberius was a clever, if somewhat manipulative, trickster. I even managed to teach Tiberius a large repertoire of tricks. I tried to teach Lyra too… but she is a bit dumb.

After caring for the rabbits for almost a year I started to think about breeding and began to attend various rabbit shows. Here I met a number of breeders who mentored me in the ways of understanding how to determine the quality of type, colour and care of bunnies. After waiting many years I finally took the plunge and was offered my founding member of the rabbitry, Patches Chilli. She was bred to an amazing buck, who was well celebrated for his amazing type and quality, "Patches Edward", and from them I began my breeding program of creating well typed quality orange nethies.

Feel free to email usabout any questions you may have, we would also like to urge you that if you are looking at purchasing a rabbit remember to check your local RSPCA and adopt a poor neglected bunny that may need your love before you think about buying one from any breeder.

Adopt a bunny from the RSPCA.
